Teaching
I taught at the University of Connecticut from 2006-2011 and began teaching at Emory in 2013. At Emory, I teach undergraduate courses on Indigenous literatures, multiethnic literatures, and children's/young adult literatures. I also regularly teach first-year writing courses with Indigenous studies themes.

- Resources for Students in Native American and Indigenous Studies. My Emory students use this webpage as a starting point when looking for Native American and Indigenous Studies scholarship, quality reference sources, and Native news media outlets. Much of the material is relevant for other contexts as well.
- Learning More about Native Nations: Resource for Teachers, Students, and Families. I regularly update this 5-page handout listing specific book titles, links to videos of Indigenous authors reading and discussing their works, and resources for finding, evaluating, and learning from materials about Indigenous peoples. This handout is tailored to Atlanta-area educators and families but is also relevant beyond that specific context. I last updated this handout in August of 2023.
- Resources for Engaging Indigenous Literatures in K-12 Classrooms. I curated and annotated this handout in 2016 while serving as Pedagogy Committee Chair for the Association of the Study of American Indian Literatures. The handout includes information about numerous high-quality online resources, print resources, academic journals, and human connections educators can draw on as they incorporate Indigenous literatures, histories, and cultures into curricula and programs for young people.
